A small addition to the previous post, Hemispheres. The airline company didn't pay me with money, but offered  a first-class plane ticket to a place I chose by poking at the globe. I chose the place shown in the attached photos. But where was I exactly 30 years ago, in 1996?

IN PARIS - WITH ESCHER

A friend of mine in Paris sent me a message saying that she had seen my work at the major retrospective Escher exhibition at the Monnaie de Paris museum. Alongside the master's works, the exhibition also featured pieces by several artists who can be considered precursors or successors of M. C. Escher. Piranesi was there as a predecessor, Reutersvard as a contemporary, and I was there as a successor with my work Stairs. Since the exhibition, which has been open since November, will only be open until March 1, I had to hurry. I was really surprised by how many people are still interested in Escher today. The gatekeeper threw up his hands: all tickets had been sold in advance. I was forced to admit that I also had something hanging in one of the rooms, so I was lucky enough to get in after all. The Stairs (sometimes also exhibited under the title Time Sights) was transferred to the Paris exhibition from the Maurits Collection in Italy. It seems that I have several pictures in the Maurits Collection, at least according to the information on the Internet. I am also attaching The Corner House.

BUCHAREST 2X

My work is shown in two exhibitions at the same time in the Romanian capital. In the framework of Bucharest Graphic Days, I will have a solo poster exhibition in the Rotonda Hall of the National Theatre in Bucharest, the central venue of the event. The material has been selected by graphic artist Ciprian N. Isac, who has directed the exhibition and designed the catalogue, thanks to him. This exhibition opens on Saturday 19 October and will be open until 10 November. The other exhibition will be in the gallery of the Liszt Institute - Hungarian Cultural Centre in Bucharest, where my autonomous graphic sheets and my mirror cylinder anamorphoses will be exhibited. The latter exhibition will open on the evening of 23 October, and will be on view until 8 November.

TOLERANCE POSTERS IN VIENNA

I did not write about all the locations where the Tolerance Poster exhibition organized by Mirko Ilic was held. But the current one is at a very close location, in Vienna, and it's a round number, since this is the 170th exhibition of the series that travels around the world. So the Tolerance Poster Show opened at 'designforum Wien' at Museumsplatz will be on exhibition until September 9th, 2023.

SERENDIPITY ?

I just came across these photos. Serendipity? They were made in the Shakespeare & Company bookstore in Paris, if I remember correctly, in 2006. The quote painted on the wall appears to be a paraphrase of the Bible, although some say it comes from George Whitman, the store's former owner. "BE NOT INHOSPITABLE TO STRANGERS LEST THEY BE ANGELS IN DISGUISE" I do not know. In any case, with these pictures and this quote, I wish the readers of the Utisz Blog a blessed Christmas and a happy new year.

AGI IN TRIESTE

The AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale) congress took place in Trieste between September 18 and 23. It had never been so close to us before, and it had missed two years due to the pandemic, so with Dóra we drove to Trieste in our new car. Once we were there, we visited Miramare, Duino and, of course, we went down to Venice. Thanks to Henning Wagenbreth for the last photo.

EXHIBITION IN NUR-SULTAN

R.I.P. ABE SHINZO

A kiállításokat a két ország diplomáciai kapcsolatfelvételének 150. évfordulója alkalmából rendezték, amelyen Orbán vezetésével magyar delegáció is részt vett. Zavarban voltam, s most sincs másként. Rest in peace - nyugodj békében Shinzo Abe.
