SPQR - OPTICAL ILLUSION

SPQR an initialism for Senatus Populusque Romanus (The Senate and People of Rome) is an emblematic phrase referring to the government of the Roman Republic. The inscription can still be seen in many places in Rome today as well. Among other things, on the covers of the manholes. I even took a photo of one. Here it is, upside down. When I turn the picture over, a special optical illusion appears. The prominent positive shapes of the picture change into recessed negative shapes. The phenomenon follows from the knowledge that light mostly comes from above. Learned knowledge, but perhaps more inherited knowledge. "Lux desuper venit" Mistical, isn't it!?
